"An Evening of Ballet" |

Appalachian Ballet Theater to present "An Evening of Ballet". The performance will showcase the talent and artistry of the company dancers in a program of high-energy signature works as well as excerpts from beloved classics such as Coppélia, Swan Lake, Giselle and Don Quixote. "An Evening of Ballet" will be held at Mountain Ridge High School, Frostburg, Maryland, on Saturday, June 2, at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 3, at 2:00 p.m. Tickets may be purchased by calling 301-729-6722. |

June 3-7 Frostburg State University and Allegany College of Maryland are co-sponsoring the 53rd annual meeting of Society for Economic Botany, “Ethnobotany of Mountain Cultures.” A Farmer’s Market will be held on the FSU Upper Quad on June 3, 4-8PM. On June 3 at 7PM, FSU’s Upper Quad will host “Folktales” by folk musicians and storytellers Sparky & Rhonda Rucker. On June 4 at 6:30PM, FSU’s Roper Gallery will host “Celebrate Forests: Glimpses Into the Communities and Ecosystems That Sustain Us All,” a photography exhibit by Josh Birnbaum. And on June 5 at 7PM, the ACM College Center Theatre hosts “With Drum and Stethoscope: Medicine on the Far Side,” a talk by Dr. W. Parkinson's Disease Support Group |

The Cumberland area has been without a support group for Parkinson's Disease patients, family members and care givers for a number of years, and plans have been made to develop a Support Group.
Grace Memorial Community Church, on Seton Drive, has agreed to provide a meeting room for monthly meetings. An elevator and handicapped facilities are available. There will be a time for sharing, idea exchanges and an opportunity to encourage PD patients, family members and
care-givers.
The first meeting will be for planning and an “Ice Breaker” If you are interested in attending the meeting on Monday, June 4, 2012 at 4:00 P.M., or if you have a special interest in assisting in the facilitation of a Parkinson's Support Group for the Cumberland area - Please contact Shirley McKinney at 301-729-1427.
A number of doctors and professionals have been contacted to speak to the support group.
John's Hopkins and the Western Maryland Health System have offered support.
